Table of contents
We are a small independent team publishing about online casinos for players in Ireland. We are not owned by an operator, we do not run a casino, and nobody can buy a position in our tables. This page explains who writes the site, exactly how we test, where the money comes from, and what to do when you think we have got something wrong.
Why this site exists
The Irish casino market changed twice over in a short period. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 created a statutory regulator where there had been none, and through 2026 the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland began licensing operators, restricting advertising and banning credit gambling. At the same time the offshore market kept growing, and a large share of the sites accepting Irish sign-ups still hold nothing but a Curaçao or Anjouan permit.
Players are left holding two questions that marketing pages refuse to answer: is this operator allowed to take my money, and will it give the money back. Almost every casino listing site in this market answers neither. They reprint operator copy, sort by commission rate, and describe every withdrawal as instant.
We started this site to publish the two numbers that actually matter — who the licence belongs to, and how long a payout took when we timed it ourselves. Everything else on the site exists to support those two facts.
Who we are
Declan Kavanagh — editor
Twelve years writing about gambling regulation and payments, eight of them focused on the Irish and UK markets. Declan runs the licence checks, reads the terms line by line and writes the review verdicts. He plays live blackjack badly and slots rarely.
Aoife Ryan — testing
Handles account registrations, verification submissions and the timed withdrawal tests, and keeps the payment-method tables current. If a number on this site has a timestamp attached, Aoife recorded it.
Cathal Byrne — data
Maintains the offer feed, tracks bonus terms as they change and audits our tables against operator pages every month. He is the reason a bonus figure on this site matches the one in the cashier.
What we are not
We are not a licensed operator, an affiliate network, or a dispute service. We cannot access your casino account, recover a balance, or intervene in a complaint. Where a dispute needs escalating, we point you at the regulator that can act.
How we test a casino
Every brand goes through the same routine before it appears anywhere on this site, and any stage can end the assessment on its own. A casino that fails the payout stage is not rescued by a generous bonus.
- Licence and ownership. We find the licence number in the footer and check it against the issuing regulator's register. We identify the operating company and look at what else it runs. If the licence does not resolve, the brand does not get listed.
- Terms and conditions. We read the bonus terms and the withdrawal terms in full, and record five values: wagering multiple, maximum bet during rollover, game weighting, expiry window and conversion cap — plus daily, weekly and monthly withdrawal ceilings.
- Registration and verification. We open a real account with real documents and record how long verification takes and whether anything is requested twice.
- Deposit, play, withdraw. We deposit the minimum by at least two methods, play without a bonus so nothing blocks the cashout, then request a full withdrawal and time it from request to funds received. We repeat on a weekday and, where the operator allows it, at a weekend.
- Support and tools. We ask live chat a specific question about withdrawal limits and time the reply. We confirm that deposit limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion are all present and working.
Where an operator's published payout window and our measured time disagree, we publish the measured time and say so. That gap is the most useful thing we produce.
How scores are calculated
| Component | Weight | What moves it |
|---|---|---|
| Licence and ownership | 30% | Regulator strength, a verifiable number, a named operator, a defined complaints route |
| Withdrawal behaviour | 25% | Measured payout times, published ceilings, weekend processing, reversal policy |
| Bonus terms | 20% | Required turnover, max bet rule, weighting, expiry, conversion cap |
| Lobby and providers | 15% | Studio count, RTP disclosure, live floor depth at Irish hours, demo availability |
| Support and safer play | 10% | Chat response time, quality of answers, completeness of player controls |
Scores are recalculated whenever a component changes, not on a fixed schedule. A casino that tightens its withdrawal ceiling drops the same week we notice.
How we make money
We earn commission when a reader registers at a casino through one of our links. That is the entire business model, and we would rather state it plainly than bury it in a footer.
Here is what that does and does not buy:
- It does not buy a position. Rankings are produced by the scoring model above. We do not sell placement, and we have turned down operators who asked.
- It does not buy a score. Commission rates vary between brands. They are not an input to any score on this site.
- It does not buy silence. Every casino we recommend has a disadvantages list, and those lists include the things operators would rather we left out — weekend payout gaps, withdrawal ceilings, demanding verification.
- It does mean we have an interest. We benefit when you register. Read our verdicts knowing that, and check the licence number yourself. We would rather you verified than trusted.
Casinos that block Irish accounts at registration are removed from the site rather than kept with a footnote, whatever they pay.
Our editorial rules
- No operator press copy is ever published as a review.
- No casino is listed without a licence number we have checked ourselves.
- Every payout figure is measured, or is labelled as the operator's own claim.
- Every recommendation names at least one real drawback.
- No page on this site describes gambling as a way to make money.
- No content is aimed at anyone under 18, and every page carries the age restriction.
- Where a brand's own terms contradict its marketing, we quote the terms.
How often we update
Offer data — bonus amounts, button text, which brands are live — refreshes automatically from our operator feed, so the figures on a card match the cashier at the time you read them. Editorial content is reviewed on a rolling basis: review pages at least quarterly, payment and regulation pages whenever the underlying rules change, and any page immediately when a reader tells us something has moved.
The "updated" date at the top of each page is the date of the last substantive review, not the date a script last ran.
When we get it wrong
We will. A casino changes its withdrawal ceiling, a bonus term shifts, a licence lapses, and we do not catch it the same day. When that happens we want to hear about it.
If you believe something here is inaccurate, send us the page, the specific claim, and where you saw the correct version — a screenshot of the cashier or a link to the terms is ideal. We check every report. Where we were wrong we correct the page and note the date; where the operator changed something we update and reweight the score.
We do not remove accurate criticism at an operator's request, and we do not add praise we have not earned the right to write.
How to reach us
Editorial corrections, partnership questions and reader problems all go through our contact page. We read everything and reply to anything that needs a reply.
One thing we cannot help with: we have no access to your casino account and no authority over any operator. If a casino is refusing to pay you, put the complaint in writing to the operator first, then escalate to the regulator named in the site footer. Our resources and regulators page lists the routes that exist, and our responsible gambling page lists the Irish support services that answer around the clock.
